Dear colleagues,

The Society for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics (SABE) is inviting proposals to organize the SABE session at the Allied Social Sciences Associations (ASSA) meeting in 2024 and/or the Southern Economic Association (SEA) meeting in 2023.

The ASSA is a three-day meeting organized by the American Economic Association (AEA) in conjunction with 58 associations from related disciplines. In 2024 the meeting will take place in San Antonio, TX (January 5-7, Marriott). (previous SABE sessions at the ASSA can be found here: 2021, 2022). As you know, ASSA meetings are very prestigious, but in case your proposal is selected, there will be no further preselection, so that all speakers of your session will automatically qualify as ASSA presenters.

The 93rd Annual Meeting of the SEA will be held in New Orleans, LA, at the New Orleans Marriott, November 18-20, 2023. The Southern Economic Association is one of the oldest economics associations in the United States, dating back to a conference held in Atlanta in November 1928.

If you are interested in organizing the SABE Session with the focus on Behavioral Economics at the ASSA and/or the SEA meeting, please fill out the attached Session Proposal Application ASSA SEA 2023-2024, indicating its topic, names of potential speakers and titles of their talks. Please send this form, along with a PDF version of your CV to assa@sabeconomics.org by April 1st, 2023.

Please note that priority for organizing the ASSA session of SABE will be given to applicants who have not done so in the past 3 years.

In addition, while a tentative proposal is generally acceptable, a detailed, confirmed, and well thought-out proposal is appreciated, and will be preferred over a more tentative proposal, all things equal.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome no later than May 1, 2023. Please be aware that there will be only one SABE session at ASSA, but there could be multiple sessions of SABE at SEA, so the chance of acceptance of the proposals for the SABE sessions at SEA is higher.

Please forward this email to scholars who might be interested in this call for proposals.

Looking forward to your application

Alexis Belianin
SABE President
